Our first weeks of school were filled with getting to know each other. After we settled our "first day jitters" with a magical potion, we hit the ground running. We learned about each other with a crazy snowball fight, then celebrated our Circle of Friends with a special team building snack. Ask your child about the rotten banana!
In reading, students are working selecting “good fit books” using the Ipick Rap (ask your child to share this great song with you) and building stamina in reading to themselves independently.
In writing, we have created a summer souvenir t-shirt which you can find hanging on the line in our class. We will soon begin working on becoming authors of our own lives.
72, 71, 70, 69...that is what is going on in math. We have been doing lots of counting forward and backwards and reviewing our grade 1 outcomes. Want to help? Check to see if your child is doing number reversals. This is an area that can be worked on at home.
Fabulous, Fun, Fridays have been a real hit with the kids. From Friday Riddles, to French Culture, to classroom Phys. Ed, the kids are doing engaging activities that incorporate all their learning styles!
