First, I would like to thank everyone who contributed to making last week's Teacher Appreciation Week so fantastic for us. It certainly helped with those winter blues.
We are hard at work in room 1011 as usual.
In Literacy we are working on individual nonfiction animal projects. They are doing their own research, organizing facts and writing brochures. Their knowledge of nonfiction text features is certainly being put to the test.
In math there is a huge focus on facts to 20. We have been exploring many different strategies including making 10 and 20, doubles and near doubles, making a ten and counting on as well us taking numbers apart.
Any chance the students have to practice these facts at home will be very helpful. There are many great apps and website if you just google Addition Facts to 20 games.
Here is one of my favourites:

This month we have been celebrating Frye House in honour of Northrop Frye . Frye house has decided to focus on a theme of Friendship and we have been exploring the theme this week.
A Few Things to Know:
- Thursday will be Pink Shirt Day
- Friday will be our Friendship Assembly and students are encouraged to wear blue and gold to celebrate Frye House.
Reminders:
Book Orders are due tomorrow.
Please see the home page for information regarding the French Second Language program choice that is due on Friday, February 26th.
Thanks a Bunch!
